Materials for 2009
Are you ready for your trip to DC? The following documents will be helpful in preparing for Foundations on the Hill 2009.
Key Messaging Points
Legislative Issue Papers
Issue papers provide background information on the Council on Foundations' legislative priorities. They are great resources for "leave-behind" folders. (March 19, 2009)
"Leave-Behind" Folders
It is always a good idea to put together a folder to leave with each of your Senators and Representatives. Many regional associations put together "leave-behind" folders for their delegations. The folders usually include:
- a list of meeting participants with contact information
- one page overview of grantmaking in your state/district
- Legislative Issue Papers
- see above.
- Council and Forum one-pagers (membership in these national organizations shows a commitment to ethics and accountability)
- any press clips of the work being done in a Member's state/district
To find the latest foundation statistics for your state, visit the Foundation Center's FC Stats page. If you would like the Council and the Forum to provide these folders, please contact Chatrane Birbal (703/879-0689).
