When you call your legislator’s office to schedule a meeting, you will most likely be asked to e-mail or fax a meeting request letter stating where you are from, the date and time you would like to meet, what you would like to discuss, and your contact information. We have prepared for you a sample meeting request and event invite letter as a guide for writing your own personalized letter(s). You should FAX or E-MAIL your requests to the representative’s or senator’s district office.
We encourage you to copy your senator’s or representative's tax aide on your request. Though a member's tax aide works out of the DC office, it is important to make sure that he or she is aware that you are going to meet with his or her boss. Ask the official's district staff or contact your senator’s or representative's DC office to find the name and contact information of the tax aide.
